What a day I had at Marie-Therese & Colm’s wedding in March!

The couple met on the 13th March 2015, through the modern and very popular online dating! (see girls you can find the right one!). After a year of dating and while putting a deposit down on their first home together, they realised that they had found “the one”. After a romantic proposal in front of the Royal Palace in Madrid, MT saying yes of course, they began planning their wedding for six months time!

“We took a very carefree approach to the wedding planning. For us, it was more about the marriage rather than focusing on the little details of every aspect of the wedding itself. We got most things organized in a very short space of time, after giving ourselves only 6 months to do it. A lot of things just looked after themselves”

The couple give themselves a budget and focused on the elements of the day that were important to them….

“We decided to invest the most money on our venue, Corick House Hotel & Spa, our wedding rings and the honeymoon which was an out of this world trip to the Dreams LaRomana in the Dominican Republic! These were the things that mattered to us the most, we didn’t hire cars or get a professional cake made but got a family friend to help us out for these details. We kept the theme simple and to be honest a little bit mishmash which actually turned out to look quite co-ordinated.”

“Well, the dress was expensive too but very reasonable when you see it”

Marie-Therese’s stunning dress was from the 2018 Morilee By Madeline Gardiner collection and she was lucky to get it. “I knew finding the dress wouldn’t be easy, I had a fair idea of what I wanted in my head. I went to Perfect Day in Lurgan and as soon as I saw it I knew it was “The One”. As the dress was from the 2018 collection there were concerns that it might not be here on time for the day but a call to the designer assured it would, I was delighted”

Marie-Therese teamed her dress with amazing Ted Baker heels and coordinated blush accessories which really complimented the dress.

“We decided to buy the wedding suits from SD Kells, Belfast rather than h. Whilst a bit more expensive, it was nice that everyone was wearing something brand new, and at least there is something to show for it after the event.”

Marie-Therese opted for beautiful sequinned dresses from a collection at Debenhams for her three bridesmaids and pretty little flower girl dresses from Monsoon which actually worked out more expensive than the bridesmaids!!

The couple exchanged their vows in St Mary’s Church, Bellaghy which provided some amazing light from the beautiful stained glass windows for some of the photographs before moving on to Corick House for the reception.

“The highlight for me was walking up the aisle and seeing all my family and friends there to watch me, but especially seeing Colm at the top waiting on me.” Marie-Therese

“I found the part when MT was walking down the aisle a bit overwhelming and quite nerve-wracking, but just immediately afterwards when we had lit the marriage candle, and had taken our seats the nerves settled a bit. MT then took my hand as the ceremony started, and I felt settled and at ease, and just began to process what was actually happening. I was so proud, and felt so lucky to be sitting there with my beautiful bride, surrounded by all our closest friends and family. A real highlight.” Colm

Check out the couples stunning cake made by Colm’s Auntie & Mum!! Wow talented ladies!!

“Our advice to other couples would be not to stress out too much about it, relax and enjoy the process. All falls into place on the day. And try not to take it too seriously or get carried away with material things. At the end of the day, it’s about making a commitment to one another, thats what a marriage is.”

“I just want to take this opportunity to thank you for doing a wonderful job on the photographs. It’s going to be hard to choose which ones to get framed. We have a lot of special memories to look back on over the years. Thanks so much for capturing these for us.”

Thank you MT & Colm for letting us me be part of your day! Love Melissa xx
